Job Title/Position:

Business Administrator

Reports to:

General Manager or Company President

Overall Responsibilities:

The prime focus is to maintain the administrative aspects of human resources (benefit plans, payroll, reviews) and provide financial administration (prepare and manage corporate budgets, payables, invoicing, and the company profitability program), working as a team with the company president, the general manager, and the marketing coordinator.

Key Tasks:

Human Resources
  • Manage resumes and assist in contract creation for employees with the general manager or company president; may be part of the decision-making and interviewing team
  • Prepare payroll for input and review
  • Manage health benefits and vacation and banked time accrual
  • Manage corporate commitment to employees' goals
  • Maintain relationships with universities and employee sources as needed
Financial Administration
  • Coordinate financial reports as needed to report to the general manager and company president
  • Liaise with IT team to ensure that administrative systems can report the necessary data to management
  • Provide detail in the development of budgets with the general manager
  • Control budget spending, including working with the marketing coordinator on marketing budgets, including review of new and existing advertising
  • Complete quarterly profitability program details
  • Authorize payables, including making online payments
  • General GL account management
  • Oversee receivables in liaison with project assistant
  • Approve and enter employee expenses
  • Coordinate financial year end, meeting accountant requirements
Experience Required:
  • B.Comm or equivalent technical or financial diploma
  • At least five years business administration experience in small business
  • Experience with accounting programs and processes, HR management, and IT technologies is beneficial
  • A keen interest in environmental issues and/or oil and gas experience and understanding of environmental consulting would be valuable.
Salary:

Negotiable upon experience
